Miss Philippines 2009 Candidates Attended Earth Hour

Miss Philippines 2009 Candidates with 2 Reigning Miss Philippines Winners

29 Mar -- A gathering took place yesterday at 8:30 pm at the Bonifacio High Street, The Fort in Taguig, Metro Manila to observe the Earth Hour.

Mayor Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. of Mandaluyong City and various NGOs attended the gathering. 11 of the Official Candidates of Miss Philippines 2009 were also present alongwith, 2 reigning Miss Philippines winners, Miss Philippines Air Marie Razel Eguia and Miss Philippines Water Marian Michelle Oblea.

"2009 is a destiny year for the entire planet," declared Lory Tan, President and CEO of WWF-Philippines who holds this initiative in the country. "This is the year that we decide the future of humanity. Earth Hour is a message of hope and action and we hope it sends a powerful message to both local and world leaders. It is a global movement that proves that each one of us can make a difference. Imagine what we can do if we act together."

The Earth Hour can be participated by anybody who turns off the lights for an hour starting at 8:30pm in their own time zones. This campaign is also observed in many parts of the world and in global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco , Rome 's Colosseum, and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square.(WE)
