Miss Argentina 2009: The Beauty Pageant with Social Responsibility

12 Apr 09 -- Miss Argentina 2009 Beauty Pageant competition begins today Easter Sunday 12 April. Majority of the pageant events will be held in two provinces namely Salta and Buenos Aires where the finals will be held in the latter on April 18.
Candidates are required to be Argentine national, single, without children and must be between 17 and 24 years by 31 December 2008. Each applicant will be screened by jury appointed by N-Entertainment according to beauty, cultural beauty and attitude.
Throughout the week, they will be evaluated in various disciplines such as talent, culture, social project "Beauty for a Cause" and top model. In each category, winners will be taken and they will be automatically included in the semifinals.
An online voting of the candidates representing the various provinces will be also be conducted starting tomorrow 13 April until the coronation day on 18 April 2009. The winner will be announced on the finals night which will also be automatically included in the semi-finals.
The first part of the competition will be a Talent Show at a Theater in Santiago del Estero.
Miss Argentina 2009 Beauty Pageant promotes social responsibility. Each candidate is required to submit a project relevant to her province to be sponsored by N-Entertainment for a year. The presentation of social project "Beauty for a Cause" will be held in Salta.

Nadia Cerri, N-Entertainment Director. The pageant was very popular in the 50's and 60's. For various reasons, the pageant has lost appeal in the new century. N-Entertainment, whose director is former Miss Argentina Nadia Cerri is doing her best to revive the institution.
"I want people to understand that Miss Argentina is not a simple beauty contest or at least not in the way that we treat it. The candidates are required to submit a project of social responsibility for the benefit of her own province. They would need to present this to the jury consisting of NGOs, health representatives and social action groups in Brazil. The winner will automatically be included in the 10 semi-finalists."
"The competition that we hold is very comprehensive. There are steps that the girls have to undertake such as culture, talent, responsibility and social projects as mentioned. In addition to the traditional evening dress and swimsuit competitions."
There are 24 delegates expected to compete. Out of the 24, 10 will be chosen as semi-finalists and four of which will have the chance to travel to different parts of the world to represent Argentina in international competitions. One of them will be Miss Argentina Earth 2009.
The finals will be held at the Golf Club of Buenos Aires.(WE)
