COUNTRY RANKING:>15 NATIONAL ORGANIZER:Miss Cuba Organization Can you describe yourself, your background and the place where you are from? I come from an Island in the Caribbean, Cuba, where the people is incredible and filled with energy and fun, where the landscape is unique surrounded by clear waters and white sands and crowned by jungle mountains, where the music is the blood and where the family represent a powerful cell in each individual. My father was born in Lebanon and my mother is from Cuba. I grew up in Mexico and now I’m living in United States, so my background is blessed by diversity in all senses. What are your preparations for the upcoming Miss Earth? I can say I am working with my body and my soul for this Pageant. Physically, I am working hard to be in good condition and shape including Gym sessions, Skin Care Sessions, Hair Treatments and Yoga Lessons. About my education, I have been involved with several green-minded activities to learn and understand the essence of this contest. The more I learn, the more I want to work for the environment. I became Earth Organization Ambassador, I am image model of the upcoming Eco Fashion show in Las Vegas, and I am collaborating with green minded designers to promote green lifestyle around the Nevada areas. I have been modeling for green products including hybrid cars. All this work is part of my preparation for this contest and beyond that, I’m preparing myself to be a green activist for life. In your daily life, how are you able to practice environmental awareness? Bringing re-usable bags to do shopping, saving on electricity at home, saving on gas, buying on farmers market, drinking water from the tap instead of from plastic bottles, learning ways to become green in every activity I do. Technology, what's your take on this for the environment? Positive or Negative? Industrialization and technology can have both good and bad effects on the environment. But really it is the way in which we use the technology that matters. Technology helped out countries to develop new ways to protect the environment and working toward this fact, technology itself will be the future key to protect the environment. How important is winning the Miss Earth crown to you? Why? First of all, is important for me to be first Cuban woman crowned after 56 years in an international beauty pageant showing the world that Cuba is more than a political issue. Being Miss Earth will give me the chance to be a voice for my country in order to protect their environment. Do you think that Miss Earth has achieved its goal of spreading environmental awareness? Explain. Absolutely. Miss Earth is not only a pageant; it is a group of people working for the environment in every part of our world. Each year, hundred girls around the globe work hard to promote their unique platforms and keep working over the years with that commitment. There are sectors that say, global climate change is a hoax. What is your opinion on this? Understanding a hoax as a deliberate attempt to "trick an audience into believing, or accepting, that something is not real, I can say that the world has the last word. We are experiencing the adverse changes and suffering from our ignorance and it is time to spread the word to make people understand better than believe in our environment.
