COUNTRY RANKING:>15 NATIONAL ORGANIZER:Royal Beauty Organization, Inc. Introduction: The new Ms Earth Puerto Rico is Ms Dignelis Taimy Jimenez. Due to ill health, Ms Angelica Medina who was crowned earlier as Ms Earth PR will not be able to carry on her title and as such forfeit her schedule for the Ms Earth finals in Manila this November 2009. Ms Dignelis Taimy Jimenez is a graduate of Law and has had taken Criminal Justice as major field of concentration in college. As a multi achiver, Ms Jimenez has also obtained a degree in Journalism. She has the facility for languages and speaks Spanish and English. Among her many accomplishments, the new Ms Earth Puerto Rico is actively involved with environmental concerns in her native Puerto Rico. She is the new image model and the voice behind Green Zone Expo Fair celebrated recently in June in San Juan’s Convention Center. She has done commercial modelling and graced the covers of some of the more important magazines and tabloids in her native PR. In a related development, Ms Earth Puerto Rico has recently signed a contract with “the” most important broadcast channel in San Juan to air the annual event starting April 2010. The search for the annual Ms Earth PR will be aired not only in PR but also in the 51 other states of the US of A. To achieve this end, poised to lead the tiny state of Puerto Rico in the search of beauty delegates to international competitions, the organizers of the annual event and National Director of the Ms Earth PR had started laying the groundwork for a successful staging of the annual search, foremost, by hiring the services of a nationally known event management crew to make the annual search the most celebrated in that part of the region. Can you describe yourself, your background and the place where you are from? I am a very strong-willed, caring and curious person. I had the blessing to be raised by parents that showed me from the early beginnings that there’s no limit to a person’s dreams. That in order to make dreams come true, you must first know yourself, your virtues and defects so in that way you can work with the instruments that were given to you to achieve success. I come from one of Puerto Rico’s largest cities, Arecibo. In contrast to the capital, San Juan, Arecibo is mostly rural. Because I have always been surrounded by trees and vegetation, I grew up with a sense of responsibility and love towards our environment. What are your preparations for the upcoming Miss Earth? My preparations consist of making a balance and excel in three aspects: mentally, physically and emotionally. As a delegate to the Miss Earth Pageant, I consider that the most important thing is to show the world how compassionate we must be of the problems that our mother natures faces, and to be willing and knowledgeable of the cause, and of the platform chosen to that matter. In your daily life, how are you able to practice environmental awareness? In every aspect of life every single one of us is capable of making changes that propend to a healthier Mother Earth. In my case, I am very careful when it comes to proper waste management practices. I am involved in community-related activities that are eco-friendly such as cleaning the beaches and replanting trees. Technology, what's your take on this for the environment? Positive or Negative? Technology itself is something positive because it’s a crucial part of human evolution, the problem exists when society is unable to make an adequate balance between technology and the fundamental precepts for Mother Earth conservation. We should use technology wisely, bearing in mind that every action that we take has a direct impact on our environment. How important is winning the Miss Earth crown to you? Why? More than a dream, it would become a realization of an achieved goal that will enable me to represent a global cause. I will become the image of Mother Earth for all its problems and needs, in order to create an impact around the world that will help to address those issues. Do you think that Miss Earth has achieved its goal of spreading environmental awareness? Explain. Absolutely. I believe that the Miss Earth Pageant has achieved to go beyond language and geographic barriers gathering women from around the world with one foundation: to promote environmental awareness and how to accomplish a healthy balance of our natural resources. There are sectors that say, global climate change is a hoax. What is your opinion on this? Even if some people want to believe that global climate is a hoax, the reality is that no one can neglect the effects and the deterioration of our environment. We are suffering drastic changes that are clear to any eye: the ozone depletion, changes in the sea level and even changes in animal conduct due to the contamination of Mother Earth. We must work together as brothers and sisters to attain intelligible solutions that propend to a healthier Mother Earth. Any message to Woman of the Earth? I want to congratulate Women of Earth for being part of the global movement that is changing minds and hearts about environmental awareness. Remember that every action that we take today has a direct impact on our future generations. We must unite to help resolve the environmental issues that jeopardize what is most captivating to humankind: the miracle of Mother Earth.
